In order to be employed by any of the hospitals, you must be trained professionally and be well equipped with various nursing skills. For instance, in order to be a registered nurse, you must have a current certificate of competence from a reputable college of nurses. It is also mandatory to have a certificate in critical care and be capable of demonstrating proficiency in caring for patients.

As a nurse, you must be endowed with capacity to empathize with patients and pay keen attention to changes in a patient’s health. You should be ready to put into practice all that you have learnt in medical school when taking care of patients. The work of dispensing and managing medications and treatments fall under a nurse’s job description. Any nurse who is worth his or her salt must be willing to put up with tough doctors and moody patients.

Nurses with experience in the work environment are in greater demand as compared to those without. However, those without experience should not despair. Newly trained nurses should be willing to learn from their peers and keep up-to-date with new disease infections and treatments. A nurse is well respected in her field if she performs her work in an ethical and resource-efficient manner.
