You can start off working as a CNA, or Certified Nursing Assistant. This is something that you can obtain in a matter of a few weeks, and as an aide, you are going to be working with a nurse. You will be doing hands on care with patients, and it can give you a taste of what you are going to be doing once you advance to nursing. You can get the hands on experience needed.
After this, you can become a LPN. You are still working under a RN, but you are going to be responsible for a little bit more. This is going to be a one year degree program that you can take at a local college. You are going to have hands on training during your courses to allow you to get a taste of the real world and to get comfortable with it as well.
If you are interested in becoming a RN, you are can earn a Bachelor’s degree to become certified and licensed. If you have previous credits, you will find that the program can be for about 12-18 months. After passing your courses you will be required to take state exams to become licensed.
