What Qualities Should A Nurse Possess?

without comments

To become a nurse, one of the most important qualities to have is gentleness. You cannot survive in this industry if you are constantly harsh to patients or clients. In the same light, you will realize that not all the clients or patients will reciprocate this quality. Even if the patients are harsh or insensitive, you ought to be patient enough, constantly ignoring or pulling down your tempers as a good nurse. The nurse should obviously be highly trained. In fact, most of the training programs will entail some of these ethical classes.

Another quality of the nurse is friendliness. It may be arguably true that the nurse, compared to the doctor is closer to the patient. If the nurse takes care of the patient well enough, his/her recovery process actually quickens. He gives hope to the patient in ways that the doctor might not be able to. The nurse should also be very observant. He/she should be able to spot small anomalies or improvements on patients’ status and know what needs to be done about them. Finally, emotional stability is a welcomed characteristic in a nurse. He/she should be able to control his emotions in the presence of patients, since the nurse ought not to look mentally disturbed in any way.
