What To Know If You Are Going To Be A Foreign Nurse In Canada

without comments

Canada has been having a shortage in healthcare workers over the last few months. This has caused an increase in demand for people who would like to take nursing as a profession. For foreigners, you will have to be aware of certain rules and regulations put in place.

First, you should be registered with one of the provincial or territorial bodies that officiate nursing. After you have confirmed your settling location, you will be required to contact these authorities to ask for more information regarding licensure. Most of the time, they will require you to hand over your credentials for assessment, after which you are to take an exam. This is done simply because the state, under the provincial body, is mandated to meet the stipulated standards in health care for its citizens.

Candidates are not allowed to write exams outside Canada. However, this is not the same for foreigners who are studying nursing in Canada. In most cases, the nursing regulatory bodies offer the exception of skipping these exams for students that are taking degree programs in Canada. Though they are not fully responsible of taking students through the university, they do make sure that they are well trained and ready to be absorbed into the workforce. This way, the entire team of nurses, whether local or foreigner is equipped.
