Working as a RN can be demanding both physically and mentally. Not only are you going to be on your feet for extended periods of time, but you will be faced with different illnesses and diseases on a daily basis based on the facility you are in. You are going to be giving patient care which means you’ll be coming into contact with patients.

As far as your job duties as a registered nurse, this can all vary based on the type of medical facility you are working in. Typically, you’re job duties might include:
• Administer medications to patients
• Wound care
• Administer shots or give IV’s when needed
• Supervise LPN’s and CNA’s
• Monitor intake and output
• Record symptoms of the patient
• Monitor vital signs
• Assist physicians with patient care
Working as a registered nurse can be demanding, and you need to have a sense of compassion when working with sick people. This is especially true when working with geriatric patients as well as pediatrics. You need to be organized and have compassion. You’ll be offering emotional support to patients on a daily basis, and therefore if you don’t enjoy working with people, nursing may not be for you.
